The Eurythmics’ Dave Stewart and Annie Lennox, Mariah Carey, REM and Gloria Estefan are among the 24 artists and songwriters nominated for induction into the 2020 Songwriters Hall of Fame, alongside Journey, The Beach Boys’ Mike Love, The Isley Brothers and Patti Smith among others.
The awards recognise the achievements of songwriters “with a notable catalogue of songs” who qualify for induction 20 years after “the first significant commercial release of a song”.
The induction ceremony will take place June 11, 2020 in New York City.
