THIS IS NOT RETRO SAYS…

‘Put The Needle On The Record – The 1980s At 45 Revolutions Per Minute’ is Matthew Chojnacki’s recently published celebration of the very best 7″ and 12″ artwork of the 80s. The book is not only a fantastic coffee-table guide to over 250 of the best single sleeves of the 80s era, but also delves deeper as – wherever possible – it also provides a commentary to the work from some of the key artists of the time, including Annie Lennox, Duran Duran, Run-DMC, Gary Numan, The Human League, Erasure, OMD, and Heaven 17.

‘Put The Needle On The Record’ is available now as a 272-page hardback book and includes a foreward from Jake Shears of Scissor Sisters and an afterword from Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran.

PUT THE NEEDLE ON THE RECORD

WHY DO WE LIKE IT?
Because we’re suckers for books about design and about music, and this combines the two beautifully. Because it’s a fantastic journey down memory lane, and because the comments on the artwork from the artists concerned offer a fascinating and unusual perspective on some of the best graphic work from one of the most innovative eras for typography and design.

It also has this great promo video to go with it…
