THOMAS DOLBY will present his new film ‘The Invisible Lighthouse’ as part of a theatrical experience combining his music and cinematic work. ‘The Invisible Lighthouse Tour’ will initially take in some of the UK’s most iconic arthouse cinemas before heading elsewhere in the world including at least twenty shows in North America which are to be announced soon.
The project revolves around Dolby’s own connection with a lighthouse off the East Anglian coast that is to be closed down, causing Dolby to recall his own relationship with the lighthouse. Over the past year Dolby has taught himself to become a writer, film-maker and editor in order to produce this impressionistic documentary that follows in the vein of his music and lyrics, describing it as “a kind of tone poem with music and moving images.”
The show is described as ‘a unique transmedia performance’ and will present the film with live narration and a musical soundtrack linking songs from various stages of Dolby’s career.
