I have to admit that my passion for The Stranglers waned somewhat with the departure of Hugh Cornwell, and as a result the fact that I haven’t paid enough attention to what they’ve been up to recently is to my detriment because ‘Giants’ is a great album, recalling perhaps their more mellow and commercial ‘Dreamtime’ output rather than their better known ‘punk’ albums.
The songs are simple but solid, quietly menacing and unmistakably The Stranglers, and that’s good enough for me!
