THIS IS NOT RETRO SAYS…
Don’t be fooled by this album’s rather gentle opener ‘4th And Vine’, Sinead O’Connor hasn’t gone soft on us and in fact ‘How About I Be Me (And You Be You)’ is a neat mirror to her often turbulent life, and takes us to satisfyingly dark places as a result.
Drugs, crime, relationships, motherhood and more are put under the microscope as the album develops, but this isn’t so much a story of despair as a love story without the sentiment of hearts and flowers, told from the heart and set off nicely by O’Connor’s intense and distinctive vocals.
