REVIEW: SINEAD O’CONNOR – HOW ABOUT I BE ME (AND YOU BE YOU)

THIS IS NOT RETRO SAYS...

Don't be fooled by this album's rather gentle opener '4th And Vine', Sinead O'Connor hasn't gone soft on us and in fact 'How About I Be Me (And You Be You)' is a neat mirror to her often turbulent life, and takes us to satisfyingly dark places as a result.

Drugs, crime, relationships, motherhood and more are put under the microscope as the album develops, but this isn't so much a story of despair as a love story without the sentiment of hearts and flowers, told from the heart and set off nicely by O'Connor's intense and distinctive vocals.
