THIS IS NOT RETRO SAYS…
It was a relaxed and upbeat Morten Harket who took to the stage of London’s Indigo2 for the second of the three UK shows in his current tour to promote his new album ‘Out of My Hands’.
Playing a setlist built around the (mostly) dark, electronic-pop leanings of the ‘Out Of My Hands’ album – seven of the ten songs from the album are given an airing tonight – the rest of the evening is dedicated to new interpretations of key tracks from his previous solo albums, alongside an obligatory smattering of classic a-ha material.
Ably backed by an energetic new guitarist alongside a-ha’s live drummer and keyboard player, Morten nonetheless supplemented the guitar sound himself using a favourite guitar he’s been using with a-ha and solo since 1987. Highlights for us included ‘Looking For The Whales’ (sweetly dedicated to his former a-ha bandmates, Magne and Paul), ‘Stay On These Roads’, ‘Foot Of The Mountain’ and the excellent current single ‘Scared of Heights’.

A loss of pace part of the way through the show – caused by several slower tracks back to back – would be our only criticism of an otherwise excellent show.

WE’LL GIVE IT…
