Duran Duran kicked off their postponed UK dates at the Brighton Centre on November 30th and didn’t disappoint. A well thought out setlist mixes old favourites with some of the standout tracks from the band’s new album ‘All You Need Is Now’, some rather more obscure tracks for the hardcore fans, and two successful cover versions in the form of Grandmaster Flash’s ‘White Lines’ and Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s ‘Relax’.
The entire evening is punctuated with a selection of the band’s biggest hits, including fine versions of ‘Planet Earth’, ‘Wild Boys’ and a rousing rendition of ‘Rio’ to bring the evening to a close. It’s the new songs that standout however, from the sublime ‘Mediterranea’ to sterling versions of the album’s title track ‘All You Need Is Now’, alongside ‘Blame The Machines’ and ‘Girl Panic’.
Perhaps for the hardcore fans there weren’t many surprises, but the Brighton crowd loved every minute…
